Mission Statement

At Selah-Moxee Irrigation District we pledge to provide clean reliable irrigation water to our customers in a safe, professional, and efficient manner, while maintaining and improving District operations, facilities, and water rights in order to meet the needs of our customers while earning the trust and respect of those we work with daily.

Board of Directors

Selah-Moxee Irrigation district operates pursuant to RCW 87.03 and governed by a three-member Board of Directors, elected by qualified electors of the District.

The Board has ultimate responsibility for the administration, operation, and maintenance of SMID. The directors are elected at-large landowners who, in turn, hire a manager to carry out the Board’s policies. The Directors, from their own number, elect the officers for President and Vice President and appoint the Secretary. The Board of Directors shall each serve a term of three (3) years, commencing on the first Tuesday of January following his or her election. The Secretary serves a term on one (1) year.

The Directors receive compensation and expenses for attendance at Board meetings, and for other necessary time spent on Board matters as are provided by the laws of the State of Washington. The Secretary receives compensation as allowed or fixed by the Board and such expenses actually incurred in the performance of his or her duties.

Selah-Moxee Irrigation District has 7 employees including management, clerical, supervisory personnel. Along with field employees that include ditch riders, maintenance workers, heavy equipment operators, and others.

History of the Selah-Moxee Irrigation District

The Selah-Moxee Irrigation District was originally established as the Selah-Moxee Canal Company in 1899, and later became known as the Selah-Moxee Irrigation District incorporating in 1917.
